I am using distilled water for the nutrient solution for the living room hydroponics units. It is difficult to take appropriate pH and EC measurements of nutrient concentrations. I will need to get a syringe that can reach in and extract sufficient to take the necessary readings.
In the meantime, using distilled water is the best option, to ensure that I can get the test crops started.
The four units will have the following growing:
- Unit 1 (closest to the living room window) – Tom Thumb Peas – all 3 grow sites
- Unit 2 (next from the window) – long yellow sweet peppers – 2 grow sites and two tomato plants
- Unit 3 – two cucumber plants and 1 tomato plant
- Unit 4 – closest to the seats – jalapeno peppers and yellow and black Hungarian hot peppers
I have also acquired a portable, battery powered pump for transferring nutrient from the two bottles I use for storage.
